Whoopi Goldberg’s Personal Life, Earning, Relationships.

Whoopi Goldberg is an American Actress, comedian, writter and TV Actress. Whoopi Goldberg is not her real name but her real name is, Caryn Elaine Johnson was born in (November-13, 1955).

She has received many Awards and nominationa including Emmy Awards, Grammy Award, an Academy Award (Oscar) and a Tony Award. In the year 2001, she is the recipient of Mark Twain Prize for American Honor.

Whoopi has began her acting career in 1983, with her one lady show, Spook Show, which transferred to Broadway under the title Whoopi Goldberg, running from 1984 to 1985. She received, Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album for her recording of the show. Her film breakthrouh released in 1985 with her portrayal as Celie, a mistreated women in the Deep South, in Steven Spielberg’s period drama film The Colo Purple, for which she has won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture-Drama. Her portrayal as an eccentric psychic in the Love Fantasy movie.

She also received the Academy Awards like, Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress And a second Golden Globe Award. She rise to prominence after Sister Act in 1992. And it second part Sister Act 2: BACK In The Habit in 1993. She became the highest banker Actress who is one of the most paid Actress at once.

Whoopi, portrayed in Jumpin ‘Jack Flash in 1986, Clara’s Heart in 1988, Soapdish in 1991, Ghosts Of Mississippi in 1996, and Till in 2022. She also gave her voice over in The Lion King in 1994, and Toy Story 3(2010).

Whoopi, first performed on stage, Goldberg has Starred in the Broadway Revivals of stephen sondeim’s musical A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum and August Wilson’s character Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

She received the Tony Award as a producer of the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. In the year of 2011 she won her 3rd Tony Award and this is very rare, she won for the nomination for the stage adaptation of Sister Act 2011. On TV, Whoopi played Guinan in the science fiction series Star Trek: The Next Generation (1988-1993) and Star Trek: Picard in the year of 2022.

Whoopi was born in Manhattan, New York City, On November, 1995, the Daughter of Emma Johnson. She was a care taker and a school teacher, and Robert James Johnson Jr. (1930-1993), a Baptist clergyman. She grew up in a public housing project, the Chelsea-Elliot Houses, in New York City.

Whoopi, stated her mom as a Stern, Strong and brave lady, who raised her as a single mom with her brother Clyde. She completed her schooling from Catholic School, St Columba’s. Whoopi’s not so far forebears migrated North from Faceville, Georgia;Palatka, and Virginia. She dropped the Washington lrving high school. She was a brilliant student.

She also said that her stage forename (Whoopi) was taken from a Whoopee Cushion: and that’s where the name introduced.

She asserted in the year 2011, about her stage surname that My mother didn’t named me Whoopi, but Goldberg is my name- it’s the part of my family, part of my heritage, such as being black, and I just known before that I’m a jewish. I have nothing. I never go to church or any temple, but one thing I remember are the holidays.

People would always curious to know about my religion and say hey are you a jewish?? And I always answered them that would you ask me if I was white?  I bet not. A person suggests that her mom, Emma Johnson, wondered the family’s original name was not Jewish enough for her daughter to become a known personality.

As par to an anecdote said by Nichelle Nicholas in Trekkies in 1997, a young Goldberg was watching the Star Trek and on looking for Nicholas’s portrayal Uhura, exclaimed, Momma There’s a Black woman on TV and she is not a servant there. This spawned Goldberg’s whole life Star Trek fandom. Goldberg influenced for and finally cast in a recurring guest starring character as Guinan on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

In 1970’s Whoopi went to San Diego, California in California she became a waitress there, then to Berkeley, where she did works odd jobs, adding such as a bank teller, a mortuary cosmetologist, and a bricklayer.

Whoopi has been Married three times. First she got married to drug counsellor Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979, to cinematographer David Classes from 1986 to 1988, and to union organizer Lyle Trachtenberg from 1994 to 1995.

She was always used to present in headlines for her love connections. She has had live in relationships with a celebrity Frank Langella and playwright David Schein.

And after so much of separation her heart broked and she decided to never get marry again in her life she said stated in a interview that she is committed with her family and her family is her first priority. On may 9, 1974 she became a mother she gave birth to a daughter, Alexendrea Martin, she’s also a successful Actress and a producer.

Through her daughter Whoopi has three grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Her mom passed away due to having a stroke in 29 August 2010. Her brother named, Clyde, was passed away due to brain aneurysm in year 2015. Her brother’s death was very painful for Whoopi.

She addressed about her miscarriage in The Choices We Made: Twenty Five Women And Men Speak Out About Abortion. In that book she mentioned about using a coat hanger terminate a pregnancy at the very young age of 14. Whoopi once stated that she had experienced 6 to 7 miscarriages when she was 25 and the birth control medicine failed to stop many of her pregnancy. 

She was once a functioning drug addict. Whoopi addressed she smoked marijuana before accepting the Best Supporting Actress Award for Ghost in 1991. She was drug addict because she was so heartbroken after losing her mother and brother.
