QUEEN LATIFAH.

Queen Latifah is an American actress, rapper, and singer, she has received many accolades and nominations, including Grammy Award, Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two NAACP image Awards, additionally a nominations for an Academy Award.

Queen born on, March 18, 1970. In year 2006, she received her first Hollywood Walk of Fame, and became first hip hop artist who receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When Queen was 19 years old, Latifah launched her first album , ALL HAIL THE QUEEN in 1989, featuring the hit solo, LADIES FIRST.

Her second album, NATURE OF A SISTA in year 1991, which was produced by Tommy Boy Records. Latifah’s third album was, BLACK REIGN in year 19993. She became the first album by a single female rapper to won a Gold Certification from the RECORDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (RIAA), and spawned the solo “U.N.I.T.Y.”, which was influential in raising awareness of violence over women and the objectification of Black Female sexuality.

Her track headed at the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, and won a Grammy Award. Latifah’s fourth album, ORDER IN THE COURT in year 1998, it was released with Motown Records. She has since launched the albums The DANA OWENS ALBUM in 2004, Trav’lin Light in 2007, and Persona in year 2009. Likewise she released many albums and received numerous accolades.

She started her career in film, Latifah starred as Khadijah James on the Fox sitcom Living Single from 1993 to 1998. And landed a main character in the action movie Set It Off in year 1996. She made the daytime talk show, The Queen Latifah Show, which aired from 1999 to 2001, and again from 2013 to 2015, in Syndication.

Latifah’s portrayal of Matron “Mama” Morton in the musical Film Chicago in 2002, receiving a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has also starred or co-starred in the movies, Bringing Down The House in year 2003, Taxi in year 2004, Barbershop 2: Back In Business in year 2005, Beauty Shop in 2005, Last Holiday in 2006, Hairspray in year 2007, Joyful Noise In year 2012, 22 Jump Street in year 2014, and Girls Trip in 2017, and gave voice work in the Ice Age film series.

Latifah accepted critical acclaim for her role of Blues singer Bessie Smith in the HBO film Bessie in year 2015, Latifah co-starred, winning the Primetime Emmy  Award for outstanding television movie. In 2016 to year 2019, she starred as Carlotta Brown in the musical drama series Star. In 2020, she played the role, Hottie McDaniel in the miniseries Hollywood. Since, 2021, she has held the main portrayal on CBS’s revival of the action drama The Equalizer.

Latifah’s original name is Dana Elaine Owens. Who was born on March 18, 1970, in Newark, New Jersey. And lived in East Orange, new Jersey. She is the daughter of Rita Lamae wjos was a teacher at Irvington High School, and her dad, Lancelot Amos Owens was a police offiy, her parents divorced when she was just ten years old.

Latifah grew up in Baptist faith. She attended Catholic School in Newark, New Jersey and Essex Catholic girl’s high school in Irvington, but she completed her graduation from Irvington High school. Later of her high school  She attended classes at Borough of Manhattan Community college.

Latifah is a brand she is a spokeperson for CoverGirl cosmetics, curvation women’s underwear, Pizza Hut, and Jenny Craig. She launched her own line of cosmetic for woman of color called the CoverGirl Queen Collection. She also launched the perfume line called “QUEEN”, and “QUEEN OF HEART”.

She named the godmother of Carnival Cruise Lines vessel Carnival Horizon on May 23, 2018. Instead of singing, Queen has written many books over Confidence and Self Respect called Ladies First: Revelations of a Strong Woman.

Latifah, it is an Arabic Name, which means Delicate, and Very Kind, she found her stage name, from a book of Arabic names, when she was eight years old. Always tall, the 5 foot 10 inch Latifah was Power forward on her school’s basketball team. She performed the number “Home”  from the  musical The Wiz in a grammar school play.

Latifah is a very humble and kind natured lady, she treats people equally and she is an inspirational woman.

She started her film career by playing supporting portrayals, in the 1991 and 1992 films House Party 2, Juice and Jungle Fever.

Latifah grew up in East Orange, new Jersey, she has been a resident of Colts Neck, new Jersey: Rumson, new Jersey and Beverly Hills, California.

Her older brother who’s name is, Lancelot jr. Was tragically killed in 1992 in an accident involving a Bike that Latifah had gifted him. In 2006 in an interview, she revealed that Latifah still wears the key to the bike around her neck. Visible all of her performance in her sitcom Living Single in 1995. In 1995, she was the victim of a Carjacking, which also came out in the shooting of her boyfriend, Sean Moon.

Latifah got arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of loaded handgun in year 1996. While in Los Angeles in 2002, she again got arrested for driving under the influence in LA county. She was placed on three years probation after being convicted.

Her mother who’s name is Rita Owens, she died on March 1, 2018, due to heart failure, she was diagnosed for too long and battling since 2004.

Latifah long denied to mention speculation over her sexuality and personal stuffs, telling The New York Times in 2008, that I don’t feel like I need to address this and I don’t care if people think I’m a gay, or not. At BET AWARDS 2021, during her acceptance speech she told, publicly about her partner, Eboni Nicholas and son Rebel for the very first time, and ended her speech, with happy pride..
